For Now Poem by Monica O'Connor

For Now

The base of this institution
is cracked.
It was built on lust
on top of real feelings,
and secrets on top of it all.
Now one word out of place,
will make the whole thing collapse.
But is it worth it?
All the time wasted?
When saying one thing can alter the world,
and we live from reflecting
on misunderstandings?
This hatred and sickness,
is unexplainable
but 'I'm sorry' doesnt fix
broken hearts.
And gazing at a lone star,
in the fallen dusk sky,
can it honestly be said
that you'll never feel this way again?
But tounges will be held,
for fear of altercation,
for fear,
for now.
