For Robin Williams - The Day The Movies Died Poem by Michael Walker

For Robin Williams - The Day The Movies Died

Rating: 4.3

"What amidst these, o me, o life? " you must
Have asked yourself one final time before
You left the endless trains of the faithless,
The cities filled with the foolish. Answer:

You are here. Life exists. Identity.
Now, you have contributed your verse:
Since comedy conceals tragedy,
You made us feel better, though you felt worse.

Behind all laughter, there are always tears,
As I still hear you whisper carpe diem,
For movies last beyond our mortal years,
So they are your best in memoriam.

O captain, my captain, gone with the tide,
Your death remains the day the movies died.
