For The Angels Poem by S.A. Blair

For The Angels

Today I worry for the angels,
They must be so sore and so tired,
Hearts black and blue from the conflict
Their voices so weak in the choir

Today I weep for the angels,
For this world they can only despair
Downtrodden by the feet of the selfish
They struggle to stand up and care

You may say that I’m judging the angels,
By the flaws inherent in men,
But can love really keep a soul shining?
And we all, are just souls in the end.

Today I pray for the angels,
Lord bless them; I’m down on my knees.
I offer up thanks for the angels,
Thank God that they’re stronger than me.

For a time now I’ve searched for the angels,
Seemingly lost to these parts,
I can’t seem to move for the demons
Molesting, defiling our hearts.

I’ve a postscript to add re. the angels,
It’s seems they’ve been here all along,
And if you can’t see them through life’s frosted glass,
Close your eyes boy, you just need their song.

I can see how they’re working, those angels,
As I reflect on the words gone above,
So bleak at inception, these lines in my head,
But on paper appear tinged with love.
