Forbidden Calling Poem by Samantha Bougie

Forbidden Calling

Darkness consumes all,
the shadows come to the call,
even mortals hear them in their sleep.

The calling is ancient,
as are the souls that hear them,
I have heard the calling,
and it is beautiful.

The calling no longer reaches my soul,
I heard the notes that were forbidden,
and now I face the consequences.

My heart is cold,
My soul is numb,
My being is ice.

Who is there to keep me warm?
Who is there to make me feel?
Who there to keep me from insanity?

This is the icy fate I was given,
so leave me to face it in peace.
