Did you know dearest fallen angel
What the endless journey would cost
Did you truly understand the price
Did your soul foresee what it had lost

Where you given a choice in the fall
Did you take up the chalice purposefully
When you drank the bitter wine of shame
Did you know this to be your final destiny

Was it easier there beneath the heavens
To believe your cause was just
To hold a brave empassioned heart
In the strength of your conviction trust

Did courage make you choose to come
To this empty god forsaken land
If you could rewind the hands of time
Would you do it all again

Did light's souls sing a glorious song
Of earthly triumph and wonder
Did angels sing to you of brave deeds
Was hope for love the spell you were under

Now that you've walked the perilous path
Had your heart torn asunder through pain
If given a chance to change the tides
Would you dare to make the choice again

How much loss can one soul stand
Before it loses it's right to shine
You've fallen so far into the black
What light in shadow is there to find

When you total up the balance
Of what you have endured for love's sake
Tell me darkest broken soul
Would you this empty path forsake

You've fought every battle thrown at you
And all the horrors hell's minions could wage
All to stand in this wasted island
The truth being naught but a cage

Did you realize when they gave you these wings
That they'd been cursed to never fly
That while you fought for truth and love
You'd be left bereft under this burning sky

I fear I may never understand the loss
The wounds you carry to the depth of your core
To save others from the evil's grasp
You gave up the chance to dream forever more

When the nightmares hold you bound tonight
Will you still feel it was worthy of living death
Or will you curse your mortal mantle
And pray for release, for the final breathe

You've saved so many wandering souls
Stood fast for others hope and peace
Yet all that is left your shattered heart
Is to know suffering without cease

I hope that in somewhere far from here
Lies a future where your soul is bathed in light
A small peace of something to hold onto
When you lose yourself in silent screams tonight-
