Forgiveness Poem by Freeyad Ibrahim

Forgiveness

By Freeyad Ibrahim

Shot 15 people dead
Dylan Roof sat in his jail
Under suicide watch
Not because he was found guilty
But because he was forgiven
Pardoned for his crime
By the victims
Big drops of tears
On the face
He stood motionless
A blank expression on his face
Hearing anguished words of
The relatives, expressed no phrase
I will never be able to hold her again
But I forgive you
Have mercy on your soul
You hurt me, but God forgives you
Me too, I forgive you
Every fibre in my body hurts
And I'll never be the same
But my God have mercy on you.

The killer is tormented by forgiveness
As Leo Tolstoy wrote
God sees the trust, but waits
Tormenting means sometimes Forgiveness
