Forgotten Poem by Donald R Wolff JR

Forgotten

Death has taken me back home again- No one was waiting by my grave
Life is now a lonely memory- No one cared enough to pray

Here I'm bound to think of yesterday- A empty life that had to end
No one came to say Goodbye- Must be in life I had no friends

I can hear the angels calling- For another soul to come home
As I follow a well lit pathway- I realize I'm all alone

No voices echo in the hollow - No one sings my welcome song
Perhaps I am forgotten - And before the gates I don't belong

Why can't they feel my sorrow- All I seek is a gentle tone
I am waiting here outside of Heaven- In search of peace I need to know

Within my grave it is so silent- I can still feel the freezing cold
Have I died to be in Heaven- Or is my Hell this six foot hole

The fear is breaking to a panic- I just want to be alive
No one seems to care in Heaven- No one came to tell me why

So I'll lie here in my coffin- Till my body is no more
Maybe if I say I'm sorry- God will open Heaven's door
