'Form Or Content? ' Poem by Linda Winchell

'Form Or Content? '

Rating: 0.5

I may look at poetry in a much different way than you,
For my form is not too much of what really seems to matter,
Just like our shapes change over a period of time,
We grow older and somewhat wrinkled and maybe fatter.

But it doesn’t change the content of,
What time has carved inside of us to be,
For its form is only externally viewed by most,
What remains in the heart of man is in what we truly see.

The heart of a loving parent,
That of a child’s gentle caring touch,
All of this and so much more of life,
Is what truly means so much.

For time will remove all of what we now own,
It will be replaced by another’s felt needed wants,
But the matter of what remains in ones heart left,
Is in the content of what really counts.
