Forty Winters Ago Poem by abu tarek md tahsin

Forty Winters Ago

a stranger i met the other day
she asked politely
would you walk me home?
i said darling,
but my heart was taken forty winters ago.

a stranger i met the other day
she asked politely
well, would you be where i would be?
I said darling,
i have been here and there
but my heart was taken forty winters ago
and i have no time for your sorrows.

she beckoned me
for a kiss
and the angels felt jealous
of a kiss
that we parted with,
which brought summers,
forty winters ago.
