Forwards And Backwards Poem by Paul Holmes

Forwards And Backwards

One step forwards, two steps back
Is a familiar manner we tread;
We seem unsure of which way to go,
A Labyrinth of routes in each head.
Do I go left, or do I go right,
What’s the best choice for me?
How do I become untangled
And, like a bird be set free?

It all comes down to experience,
The true wisdom of many years;
Listening to the well - travelled
On Life’s Path prevents more tears.
We’d do ourselves a favour
If we followed their sage advice
And take the sensible course
Without ever thinking twice.
