Free Poem by Maureen Adair

Free

A grin taking over my face,
the laughter I cannot stifle, Cannot erase.

I give in, throw my head back and laugh, headless to all who see,
my laughter echoes and fills the air, I am so free.

Exhilaration is flowing in my veins,
a smile lingers, even when it thunders and rains.

When I remember you,
that smile I cant repress no matter what I do.

It tugs, then spreads wide,
How strange, will our worlds ever collide?

Well, I'll throw caution to the sea,
I am a gambling woman, me.

I will strut forward no matter the danger,
who cares if I love a stranger?

Life's vitality fills my heart, my soul, my mind,
It quivers in my whole being, so bright it'll struck you blind.

Some think me insane,
but I smirk and look upon them in disdain.

I am a strong, daring, gambling woman me,
I will proceed, I will dare all, that is what I'm meant to be.

I will throw my head back and laugh when I want to cry,
nothing will break me, no one will make me in despair sigh.

I challenge all with my strut, with my gaze,
I pity he who thinks me, he can faze.

I am a gambling woman me,
I make chance, to my commands, agree.

Laughter fills me, seduces me, be amazed,
that smile decorates my lips, no I am not crazed.

I throw caution to the sea,
by gambling, taking chance, I am free.

I am unafraid to accept joy,
in whatever form, I am not coy.

My laughter is far from that of a lass,
I bellow louder than a man, does it shock you? my sass?

I am loud, rowdy, daring, humorous, and bold,
I survive, I fight, I am more than what you've been told.

Will you accept me as I am as laughter consumes me?
as the tide and wind calls to me? I must always fly, be free.

Will you accept me? or run away?
shocked by what all the bores say.

No matter what your choice beloved,
I will love you no matter if I remain unloved.

I will give in, throw my head back and laugh, headless to all who see,
my laughter will echo and fill the air, I will be so free.

I am a gambling woman me,
I take a challenge, throw caution to the sea.

I take pleasure in adventure in danger,
I do not care if you are yet a stranger.

Decide beloved, dear one, keeper of my heart,
whatever your choice, it will never tear me apart.

Be it yay or nay whether you accept me for me,
I will always answer to the flight, I will always be free.

I will always laugh and grin,
Laughter will be strong and soaring in my soul within.
