Free Water Lilly Poem by Nalini Jyotsana Chaturvedi

Free Water Lilly

In an unknown backwater
Away from all known lands
There once bloomed a water Lilly
One could spot, only by chance

She was a loner,
never lonely though
Her own little world
Where all her loves,
She knew, were true

Moon was her ally
Her lover and her friend
She never knew of high tides
A life of dreams and trance

Then one day
There came a Man
Handsome, young and tall
It was surely destiny's plan
For he swept her away for sure

He fell in love with Lilly
Spoke to her
Of greener lands
For he was a soldier
How could she not
Hold his hands

He took her away
From home,
Then tried planting
Her in oceans
Where tidal waves
Would menacingly groan

The Lilly felt so lonely
was scared
But could not tell
She never belonged
to the oceans
But here she had to dwell

Verily, as timed passed
That 'love' reached its end
At last!
Cast away in the seas
The Lilly was now 'free'

But was she?

Yes she is free in the ocean shore but it's more dangerous to explore..Still there's no place like home
