Bewildered I walked a long
Through the winding way
Of this labyrinth of deep forest.
I had a mind that here everything
Was with me and my jubilant mood.
The leafy sky, and the shady lane
Along the green trees and shrubs
Never let me know, how
Beautiful the Sun and the Sunny
Days were there outside this
light-shade-world of flora and fauna.
Amazed I wrote the stories
Of love, betrayal, of joy and grief,
Feeling that was the emotion
Of all mankind.
Once, I happened to get out
Of this forest-island.
The vista of the open sky,
And the surfing waves of sea
were waiting for me.
That day, I learned a new word, Freedom.
I broke one curtain, to watch
The other more free.
More I know there are
Beyond this island and sea.
Very nice poem....something about it reminds me of The Tempest....very well done...
With the wings of freedom we begin to explore and expand and then the realization dawns how vast is the word beyond our limited horizons. Enjoyed the poem.
