Freedom Poem by Tsani Jones

Freedom

Staring out from the cage
I have been held inside
For so long
So many fruitless years
Missed opportunities
And sad days
A world of black and
Ghostly smoke filled my vision.

In weary respite
I have sat and thought,
And dreamed,
Waiting for a day of salvation-
A day devoid of helplessness,
That blissful moment
Of joy, rapture,
And delight.

My years, my times.
The paths and days
Have blurred together
Into one magnanimous
Collage, a mural,
For all the entire world
To see, mark my destiny
And history.

The crystal clear image
Of you enters my mind,
A picture of when my
World was young,
When days were alive,
Life was love
And ours was the light
Of the world.

The steady wop-wop of rotors,
Angels' wings in my night
Your eyes shine like
Fire with a twine of grey-
And the volcano of
My soul erupts with
A touch of love.

I breathe a new breath of life
Because you are my life.
You are my light,
You are my angel,
You are my soul,
And you are forever my love.
But a new world forms
Around one simple fact-
You are my...

Freedom.
