Freezer Insides Poem by Saiom Shriver

Freezer Insides

Like mausoleums
are the freezers'
shiny white
exteriors

They are the
'whited sepulchres'
with rotting corpse
interiors.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Note: Thomas Edison drove his bride after their wedding through this row of mausoleums in Glendale Cemetery, Akron Ohio

Millions more each year are choosing wills in which their bodies are cremated.

We are not our bodies, but souls which one day will shed them. Nor are animals the body

cadavers for which they were murdered.
