Friend Of Mines Poem by Sunitria Couser

Friend Of Mines

I friend of mines left today
Her words she spoken were soft in such a way
That tears brought forth
A tidal wave of pain
She left no note
She left no reason
She just up and took off
As if she was apart of the changing seasons
I wish she was here
I wish she would have took me with her
I think of her words
Of the silence that followed
I think of the beauty she held onto
Even as the night closed in around her
She left me with nothing
But a feeling of why
Does such youth wish to die
A friend she was to me
But what was I to her
That she couldn't turn to me for help
That she would leave in such a way
That would cause me to follow her to this day
Even as her voice says go home
Go back to what you hold dear go home
I feel a need to reach out
And keep her near
Even as I lay here and cry
I ask myself why
Why do I keep her so close
Why won't I let her go
She left me
So why not leave her
I can't I won't
Be the one to let go
A friend of mines she will stay
Until the day I join her in that place
