Friendly Depression Poem by Cheyenne Ashley

Friendly Depression

Depression is a friend
You depend on again
To help you to mend
With advice that it lends

To help you to cry
And try to answer why
You didn't just die
When your soul said goodbye

A friend on which to lean
When others are so mean
Cause you have a dark gene
That's the only thing seen
A friend that comes back
When it's friends that you lack
To help you get packed
Cause your heart has been cracked

Depression is there
When no one else cares
And life is not fair
And you're going nowhere

So how do you leave
A friend you perceive
That helped you to grieve
And taught you to decieve
It will always be near
To listen to fear
To wipe away a tear
And remind you it is here

I'm convinced that depressed feelings are prerequisite for most poetic soul. So we learn to embrace it as a friend... nothing to fear from it. Good read.
