From Green To Gold Poem by Rodrigo Diaz

From Green To Gold

The Catskills were ablaze in changing leaves.
Perched upon a jutting rock formation,
We absorbed, wondered, pondered the magnificence.
The country side was an ocean of green turning,
Burning to various shades of gold.
Steaks of hazel and the deep azure in her eyes,
Transcendently reflected the swarth
And waves of green, cresting orange and falling
To deep shades of browns and golds.

Our weekend away was a wanderlust of colors,
And of our clutching what is and what might be.
But at the height of the euphoria,
It dawned on me that all that is green
Will turn gold, then brown, then fall.
So I marveled at the beauty of the moment,
Through her eyes, until she was gone.
