From Your Baby Son Poem by Erika Wingo

From Your Baby Son

Rating: 5.0

Mommy and Daddy,
I know it's sad
That we had to say goodbye
I want you both to keep smiling
Even though there are tears
In your eyes
My soul has moved on
I'm in heaven you see
But please do not worry...
For God is taking care of me

I know your hearts are broken
All the pieces out of place
But I will always be
A sweet memory
That no amount of time can erase
As you heal
You will begin to see
There are many special places
You can find me

I'm in the warmth of the sunlight
I'm in the scent of the flowers
I'm in the glow of the moonlight
And the rainbows after the rain showers
I'm a star up in the night sky
I'm in the twinkle of
My brothers' eyes
Please give them a lot of kisses
Give them a lot of hugs
For through them
I can feel your love

Mommy and Daddy,
It will all be okay
Our souls knew and loved one another
Long before this day
I want you to be happy and whole
Even though I could not stay
So please don't cry,
This goodbye
Is only for a moment in time
I'll be waiting
Beyond the clouds
In our life on the other side

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
I wrote this poem in the beginning of this year. It is dedicated to my cousin James and his fiance Brandi, who sadly lost their baby boy to a stillbirth. He was their third child.
COMMENTS OF THE POEM

I've just read this poem. It's so sad and touchy! You've beautifully expressed the emotions as if with a touch of personal feelings. Well done! 'I'm in the warmth of the sunlight I'm in the scent of the flowers I'm in the glow of the moonlight And the rainbows after the rain showers' These lines touch the heart and evoke sad feelings. Loved the title, loved the note. Gave it 10/10. If you have time, I'll appreciate if you would go through some of mine too and offer a word or two as feedback. My poem 'Pristine Love' earned a place among the top ten in the recently held poetry contest. You may like to start with that.
