Frosty Forest Poem by Casey Gochnour

Frosty Forest

Step by step, softly crunching leaves,
Side by side, lightly brushing sleeves.
Vines tangled left and right,
Branches covering light from sight.

Remnants of tree fall into your hair,
Bits of snow fall here and there.
I turn to the side just to see,
Your beautiful face smiling at me.

Gliding fingers through your strands,
Moving down to interlock hands.
My warm breath against your cheek,
You hear my words slowly as I speak.

I tell of love, of you,
All of everything I want to do.
All of these things with all of you,
And how every day our love feels like new.

Sounds danced from my lips into your ear,
All of the words, exactly what you want to hear.
Of love forsaken and brought up once more,
Of romance anew never heard of before.

And all of these things if you come with me,
All of these things I tell, we could be.
But promise to hold on tight,
Just please, with all your might.

Looking to your eyes with my last word,
A slip of the tongue left one more phrase heard.
So… will you?

Your eyes lifted and your smile laced with joy,
Yet reserved with a face so coy,
Whispered the words, I do.

Lips came together, lips came apart,
The love between us just began to start.
I’m intending to see it with a beginning to no end,
With my love, my baby, my new best friend.
