Full Circle Poem by Diana van den Berg

Full Circle

Wrenched out of
the comfort
of her solitude,
she unfolded
her wings
slowly
and exposed them
to the blessings
of the early rays
of the rising sun,
warming her
deeply,
too
deeply
and
the sun
exploded
and she folded
her wings
slowly,
too slowly,
exposing
her heart
to the arrows
of darkness
which penetrated
deeply,
too deeply
and she shivered
and
died.
