Funeral Poem by Kelsey Joe

Funeral

I dress in black
and look in the mirror
And think that today
Is not quite clear.

Could this be true?
Or am I asleep?
That's got to be it
Today I won't weep.

As I approach the car
I scream in my head
Why has it gone this far
If I'm still in bed.

Reality hits me hard
As I take my place
I watch the wooden box
And inside is a face.

A silent tear falls
And lightly hits the ground
A priest walks out with his book
Then no one makes a sound.

After a while of thoughts and prayers
They take him to his grave,
I cry that he is gone forever
A loved man that was so brave.
