Gaining Sanity Poem by Wendy Murphy

Gaining Sanity

I was a fool when I met you
Thought you’d be the one
To carry us through
Through this insane ride
Through the smoke in the sky
The dream was broken, it was all a lie

Gaining ground
Like lost then found
When the smoke cleared
My life became sound
Taking a look in the mirror
My path became clearer
Without you around

Without your support
It was time to abort
No ties that bind
Time’s on my side
To be on my own
Gaining sanity
By letting you go
