Gamble Poem by Alejandro Torres

Gamble

Let’s play Russian Roulette with the barrels full
This time we wont miss a spot
When the first shot
Is so clean
They always said
Don’t give that Dame a gun
But I always was a gambler

And they say the Mighty fall
But when its you behind the hammer
I just slip away
I cant be dignified saying I love you
Only in my sleep
And they used to say
Hell didn’t have enough fury
Like you do, Doll

But you know by the sixth shot I’ll be good
There was no chance at redemption
In the lives we lead
But I never did stray
And I could have sworn
I almost made you smile
But they said I wouldn’t know pay pack
Til I met you

And in the end all we have is each other
A full house and a bluff
Two loaded bottles
And metaphors to make our heads spin
So set up the glasses again sweetie
And lets play Russian Roulette with a cherry twist
I always was a bullet short
A glass too empty

Even when they said I’d drown
In on myself loving a Dame
Like you
It was well worth the risk
Well worth the metaphor I laid my heart on
For you

Even when they said I never
Would find a better gambler than you
I was always up for a challenge
