Game (Part 2) Poem by Mustafa Marconi

Game (Part 2)

You act as if I spurned you
But what did you expect
You knew the rules
The games haven’t changed
You was playing me
Just as much as I was playing you
Did you really think
That I was going to call
Or that Saturday night was the prelude
To something very special
You can lie to me
You can lie to others
But you should never, ever lie to yourself
You knew the rules
The games haven’t changed
Yes I was feeling you
And you was feeling me
Beneath the haze of alcohol and weed
You decided to invite me in
No one forced the issue
Under no pretense did we mutually comply
Now you won’t stop calling
Won’t leave me alone
How can you assume
That I owe you anything
When you didn’t even remember my name
As we woke up in the morning
Wondering if I had used protection
It was just a fling, nothing else
What did you expect
The game will never change
Those naked pictures I posted on Facebook
Will substantiate my claim
So please stop harassing me
Stop calling me
When you don't even know my name
You can lie to your friends
You can lie to your man
But you should never, ever
Under any circumstances
Continue to lie to yourself
