Games Are What Children Play Poem by Noorjala Ocasio

Games Are What Children Play

Trying to hold my composure
in such a fragile state of mind
i fear the sanity will soon fade,
as it becomes more clear that
Games are the things that children play
while lies are the things that adults lay
down so that they can sleep comfortably
in their beds of guilty consciences
that would leave them awake at night
for if they knew others wept,
at their expense, god forbid..
for they wouldnt want to come off
as selfish, no, just condescending,
they wouldn't be able to close thy eyes
and dream of the serene green
so that the two hemispheres of their cerebrum
that controls their thoughts
and the words they say aloud
can eventually meet, coming up with a solution
to their latest story
they cant wait for the moment
to scream with glory
my my my how does it feel to succeed
never realizing it would bring so much satisfaction.
Jokes of the heart
tricks of the trade,
we too, play games
that leaves us to wonder why
did i play, when i didn't even roll the die
If i didn't get to collect, when I passed GO.
What a rude awakening to the
calm place i was in, who would have thought
we never grow out of ourselves,
to learn from one another,
to learn about ourselves
Games are the things that children play
while lies are the things adults lay
