Gandhi Re Remembered.... Poem by M D Dinesh Nair

Gandhi Re Remembered....

Today is yet another October 2!
The calender says it all-
It is holiday in India.

It is Gandhi`s birthday
He is dead and therefore
Immortal today.

We have thrown ourselves into
An oblivion that suits us best
And the image of our Gandhi flickers!

We have distanced ourselves from
The pathways he showed us
And he appears to have been deserted on those tracks!

We still paint the faces of the anti Gandhis
As the the portrait of the liberator of India
Fades on the original walls of India.

We in India live a life of excesses
Everything in excess!
A life bereft of that mental glow.

We live for no other reason than begetting off springs
And still dare to forget
Those who lived and died for a cause.

On this October 2
I appeal to my Indian PH friends
To begin to feel for the missing Gandhi.

Let us once more install him
On the pedestal of the FIVE finest persons
Ever lived in this planet in retrospection!

A Great tribute to our Bappuji. Very true said, we have distanced ourselves from the path he showed us.Everything has changed today. Unsure, whether Gandhiji ideals will be followed today, or once again a Gandhiji is yet to be born. Then today, we could have expected peace. A timely write on the occasion.

Nice tribute and a reminder for people of this generation to know who Gandhi is and what he stood for. Nicely referred to as one of the (five) finest persons ever lived. Thank you.

A great tribute to an immortal soul Mahatma Gandhi, the more younger generation distance themselves from his ideology the more I see they are coming closer to him for eventually everybody including today's world wherever they may be now will return to his ideals....in the long run truth triumphs.....Dineshji.....a great piece with a great tribute...

We have distanced ourselves from The pathways he showed us How true! Unfortunately Bappuji is seen as an outdated ideologist by the grown up generation and an outlandish stranger by the younger generation! The sacred principles of truthfulness and non violence for which he stood and voiced with deep passion should ever inspire every Indian! The very fact that such a man lived close to our times is an evidence that goodness hasn't totally disappeared from the face of the Earth! An earnest plea to dig out his lofty principles from the grave! Great tribute to Gandhiji on his Birthday!

Kindly note that October 2 is the birth day of Lal Bahadur Sastri also.
