Gargoyles Poem by David Harris

Gargoyles

We gargoyles are perched on high
not to scare you as you enter,
but to protect you from the demons
who may want to get inside.
We are perched here only coming alive
if a demon tries to enter and hurt anyone inside.
The demon’s curses will not work on us
because once a long time ago
we were demons too.
Their magic cannot hurt us,
but we have the powers to drive them back
into the darkness where from
the daylight they must hide.
