Geri's Smile Poem by Carla MacKay

Geri's Smile

Rating: 5.0

Like ocean waves that never reach the shore, I have failed you.
I have failed in loving you. And I feel underserving.
I don't recognize these hands that fail to even write these words.
My lovely girl, love is but an illusion.

Does your heart remember long?
Long enough for me to emerge into your mind, like an anchor being pulled from the merky depths of your memory?
Or maybe you long to forget me?

I hear your laugh on the breeze, summer has always belonged to you.
and it breaks my heart again and again. I would give anything to see your smile.

I own this pain.
My sweet lovely girl.
I will smile for you, and you will never know.

The sun will peak through the leaves on the trees,
casting shadows on the places where my lonely heart haunts.
I can never go home again, for my only home is where you are.
