* Germaine Greer & The Feminists Poem by Irene C S ClarkHogg

* Germaine Greer & The Feminists

Yes, I was around in the 60’s,
When those strange females had their say;
Like that weird creature, Germaine Greer.
Me, be like her, there’s no way.

They called themselves the feminists.
There is nothing feminine I can see,
About scorning perfume and deodorant.
Don’t wear make-up, was their plea.

I am a woman and proud of it,
Why should I want to look and smell like a hag?
I did not burn my bra, because it is handy
To haul up the bits which now sag.

I did it for my own satisfaction,
Not as they claim, for the benefit of man.
I took pride in my appearance,
You say that, Germaine Greer, if you can.

They claimed to want to be equal
To men; but who really cares?
Real women know their place in society.
We’ve been superior for thousands of years.
