Get Along Poem by Kelvin Owusu

Get Along

Rating: 5.0

The music sounds the same, plain
Only deaf ears listen
No attention paid
Hole umbrella's shelter rain
Actions lie, words quite

Blue lifeless skies
To grey beautiful clouds
Gentle screams of terror
Silence transport loud sounds
Pieces teary of violent peace
Mary eyes bloody
Forgiven sins and maimed men
Life and limbs civil
Backwards raw spell

Collateral damage
Bloody reign bloody reign
In the name, stain paper
Black rain, gold land cold

Sorry says the screaming bomb
My orders are to decorate your homes
And many others so you wouldn't be alone
Guy, to your song I sang along
"And the others caught between
Are the only ones to bleed
And the ones they leave behind
Can only sit and cry"

The teary mind questions
Can we all get along?

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
the idea for this poem came about when i was listening to a song by Guy Sebastian - Get Along, it did pop the question in my head why can't most of us get along, i also used lines from his song which i've put double quotation marks to highlight on the last stanza
