Getting Older Than Old Poem by Shalom Freedman

Getting Older Than Old

I am greedy of my time
When I have nothing to do in it
I am impatient
When I have nowhere to go
Little things bother me
More than they should
One irritation is augmented by another
Life is not so pleasant anymore
Getting older than old is no fun
I am tired of all this
And tired of myself complaining and hurting
Its enough already
But its never enough
I love to sing to myself
And sometimes it helps
A poem also can be a momentary way out
Life still has its pleasures
And I have not given up
But getting older than old
Is certainly not something
I dreamed of
Or would wish on anyone.
