Gift Poem by Michael William

Gift

I awake and step
into a cold morning, leaving you
nothing but a smile
and distance.

I would leave you
a dream
but you would
forget it.

I would leave you
a silence
but you would
mistake it for pain.

I would leave you
a love
but you would
return it.
