Girls Of Iraq And Syria Poem by Cynthia Buhain-baello

Girls Of Iraq And Syria

Wars have made them all run away,
Leave their own lands for safety.
But now their neighbors hold them prey
Buy them like cattle into slavery.

Kidnapped, raped, taken at night,
Girls of innocence, merely children-
By those whose souls are dark, have no light-
The vultures of Evil incarnate in men.

Cries unheard, the world does not see.
These girls are just numbers, it makes me sad.
And to think that those who do this atrocity
Are the same men who pray, bow to the same God.
