Give And Take Poem by Alexandra Love

Give And Take

Rating: 3.5

When I look back,
all we had was nothing,
all we wanted we never thought we'd get,
all we needed wasn't there yet,
for we had much time to wait.
For the future runs at it's own pace,
with curves, stops, bumps and-
the case we've got ourselves in
is not one to boast,
though we get through we were
in dire need of Everything...
Something was taking too long.

Yet when I think back now,
we didn't have it all that bad,
memories come and go,
but the image of you stays close.
Although we need Everything,
Something would do,
we were still happy,
wasn't that enough?
As I sit here and retell of how it used to be,
I wonder,
were we free?

We roamed and played, and soared all day,
we did what we pleased without a thought of
the sun not rising the next day,
but were we free?

We all knew Something was coming,
Something very great.
We treasured our time together,
and remembered what we could.
Our lives were going well,
or so we thought.
We knew no different than what we had.

We had to be free, for we were happy,
weren't we?
