Give Me One Chance
All I ask is: give me one chance
To sing you an evergreen love song
Closely sway to this last dance
Locking arms as if we are bound for lifelong
Let's get lost in this embrace, just once.
Give me just one chance
To walk you home in the evening rain
Holding an umbrella, with both our hands
Soaking shoes, wet clothes in the rain
Caringly rest on our waists, our hands.
Just once, give me a chance
To go shopping holding your hands
Push the trolley along the aisles
Buy a dress or jewelry of some kind
Watch your smile at every clever bargain.
Give me one chance
To kiss your soft and tender lips
To smell your hair and body fragrance
Taste your tears on your cheeks
To treasure you, in remembrance
All I ask is: you give me one chance
To be with me, as you were once
Walk through my trials and pains
Work for our needs and wants
But unaware, you left me, in chains
Give me just one chance
To pray and ask for a miracle
To happen by dawn, perchance
To see your waking eyes twinkle
Giving love hope, a chance
If you could only give me one chance
If this is my last night by your side
Find, through my eyes, a heart, trounced
Yet my love for you would forever, abide
For my love-trained heart has forbearance.
Our lives could have been a joy dance
If only you had given us a chance

The emotions of this poem are like river passing by to the vessels of the heart
If you could only give me one chance If this be my last night by your side Find through my eyes a heart trounced Yet my love for you ever, abide For my love -trained heart has forbearance.-So much depth in love and a longing for those unrealized dreams and the moments that have slipped through fingers- - the poem aptly captures those emotions.Loved the poem.

This reminds me of Robert Browning's poem... The Last Ride Together! Our lives could have been a joy dance If only you had given us a chance.......... We long for something, but life may present us with things different.... Yet we have to resign to our fate. A haunting sense of longing, movingly expressed!
