Giving In... Poem by Matthew Edan Oliver Palma

Giving In...

To stand my ground
Or to yield to your charms
This question baffles
Leaves my logic quite ruffled....

How can you stand there and smile
Wear the cutest face in around a mile
While I summon all my energy
To resist the feelings you awake in me

How can you speak with a straight face
Telling me to run this race
When all I see are my fears going real
A failure for us, anyway we deal

How can you say things will turn out okay
That they will look up really soon, one day
When you don't understand how this love can't be
When you don't comprehend what you ask of me

And how can I let you charm your way in me
Why did I ever let you be
Now, I'm afraid there's no hope for me
For soon surely locked in your arms, I'll be

Like a knife in my heart
It cuts deep down inside
As this illusion starts
I brace for a bumpy ride.....
