Glides The Garden Snake -A Children's Tune. Poem by Dr Ian Inkster

Glides The Garden Snake -A Children's Tune.

Glides the Garden Snake

Slowly slowly very slowly creeps the garden snail
slowly slowly very slowly creeps the garden snail
slowly slowly very slowly He's trying to chew his tail
slowly slowly very slowly Creeps the garden snail.

Lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm
lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm
lowly lowly very lowly His tail he wants to curl
lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm.

boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake
boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake
boldly boldly very boldly He's sly and on the make.
boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake.

Slowly slowly very slowly creeps the garden snail
slowly slowly very slowly creeps the garden snail
slowly slowly very slowly shouts ‘that worm has got my tail! '
slowly slowly very slowly Creeps the garden snail.

Lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm
lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm
lowly lowly very lowly keeping that tail on firm
lowly lowly very lowly slides the slimy worm.

boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake
boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake
to get that worm and snail INSIDE HIM was just a piece of cake.
boldly boldly very boldly glides the garden snake.

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
This little song is inspired by a book much loved by my toddler grandson, which has in it the line ‘slowly slowly, very slowly, creeps the garden snail' - a perfect image and cadence for a simple song for very small kids with lots of word repetition and the snake taking advantage of the two idiots, snail and worm, who fight over tails they do not have, to distract and ultimately eat them! Fun for kids ha.
