Global Pie-In-The-Sky Poem by stephen ifill

Global Pie-In-The-Sky

Thoughts which we sometimes hold so dear,
Are those which seem inclined to elicit most fear,
Kept close to our hearts,
While riveted to our minds,
Little is left open to speculate;
We circumnavigate the sights around,
And ensure that we do so within our bound;
Laid out, picture perfect our view,
Today, tomorrow and what we hold anew.

We venture that way, where we chart our course,
By choice we anticipate, there will be loss,
Of sight and purpose laid ahead,
But, we're set to conquer, no remorse;
The picture we've painted moons ago,
The vision we've charted, we'll let it be,
The banner we'll hoist for all to see,
That there is within us that courageous vein,
That red hot blood which feeds our brain.

We are not intended to keep a watch,
On all who come, who go, even they who keep in touch,
The certain realities we all must face,
It's the commonality of this, our human race;
We may not all display, at times, that human face,
Nonetheless, it is most worth the while,
When we hear the cry of the little child,
When we see the smile, from a mile,
When we behold the bright, blue sky,
The global pie-in-the-sky.
