Global Warming Poem by Francis Duggan

Global Warming

The temperatures are soaring to 38 degrees
The day is warm and humid with scarce a puff of breeze
El Nino is around again sucking moisture from the ground
And brown and dry the countryside and the landscape all around
The old homes and dry gardens of the quiet old country town
By the old hill green a few weeks back that now is looking brown
The scourge of Global Warming in eveidence everywhere
Dry and waterless creek beds no longer seen as rare
Human created carbon emissions on the environment tell
We are making our World to live in a sort of earthly hell
Some heavy thunder showers of late by el nino have been sucked dry
And today the sun is blazing fiercely in the blue and summery sky
And el nino sucking water from the water dam has drunk dry the roadside drain
And this dry landscape it could well do with a month of heavy rain.
