Go Ahead, Be Nervous Poem by Robert Charles Howard

Go Ahead, Be Nervous

Don’t be nervous you say!
Sorry, can't be helped -
what with this neuron spider web
woven through my innards!

Synapses crackle and sizzle
all the livelong day
and night
though lame and loft-some thoughts -
logging in pain and pleasure,
steering my chassis
in and out of wisdom and folly.

Take it from command central
(my grapefruit sized
delirium of tissue and electrodes)
Of course I'm nervous,
you nit!
If I weren't, some medico
would call it and
send me off for disposal.
