Go-By, Gorby? Poem by Hamid Jabbar

Go-By, Gorby?

(At the moments of coup d’etat)

1.

Whither your lights shone
now, Gorby? Whereto you gone?
With the wind?
Going blind?

2.

Gorby, go!
Go to the future!
Don’t care
your suture!

Go, Gorby, go!
Go and land
in the Land
of Mankind!
Not in the land
of animalkind
of Iron Curtain
oh Gorby!

Go and throw
yourself
at Kolkhozs,
at sunflowers!
Don’t worry
Gorby, throw
yourself!
Don’t care, Gorby!
There’re only
groaning
and growing
in your
body
goriest,
Gorby!

Go,
it’s your time
to go, now
row and row
to the future!
It’s wounds
it’s growing
it’s rowing
it’s your
smiles
are smiling in
your sunflowers
your Kolkhozs,
like the sun
smiling in
your heartflowers!
It’s your sun
sunny, sunnyday
Gorby! A gory
battle! To bury
the tyranny
in your country
in hearts of lovely
in inners, o Gorby,
innermost hearts
of Mankind!
Go Gorby, go!

3.

But whither are you now,
Gorby? Are you go-by,
Gorby?
