Go To The Library Poem by Tom Higgins

Go To The Library

Please read at least one other book,
before you make up your mind,
as to just how right you may be,
don't make decisions until you find
other answers which can help you see,
whether or not what you think
really makes any sense,
or whether you are on the brink,
of doing something rather dense,
and deciding to believe,
because it says so, in the only book you read,
it must be right because it fills your every need,
and it really makes every part of you tingle,
when you haven't even looked inside the cover of a single,
other published book from which to gain perspectives,
I really hope that none of you
apply for careers as detectives!
