####God Misses His Mark

Standing on the bluffs
watching the thunderstorm
rolling in...
the trees whipping in silent protest
...shocked by the tempest
thrust upon them without consent...
the little creatures scurrying
for shelter...unable to proceed
with their business on this busy day...
the clouds roiling mad
at being called upon
to work on their day off...
and suddenly a lightning bolt...
thirty feet from where I stood...
the sharp crack of a million volts
focused into a ten foot tree
splitting it in half in burning death
with sparks that burned
the image into my forever...
God was searching but had missed...
and I ran for cover
apologizing to everyone and everything
for bringing this upon them
but worried more for my own self
that maybe next time...
God would take more time
and have better aim.

I noticed that you are a master in suggesting the idea of impending threat and menace, but the feeling is so strong and absorbing and the poem is very well penned 'the trees whipping in silent protest' is just memorable...
