God’s Covenant & Law Poem by Michael P. Johnson

God’s Covenant & Law

According to The Father’s plan
To show creation love
God made a covenant with man
One day to rise above

To have the keys for evermore
To dwell His Promised Land
He wrote His covenant and law
On tablets with His hand

His servant Moses received them
Then took them down the mount
Once there he found but mayhem
Yet none gave true account

He asked them how, he asked why
Disloyalty was found
Distraught he held the tablets high
Then smashed them on the ground

Upon the mount returning then
A further forty days
God wrote on tablets once again
Then went their separate ways

Within a gold covered ark he laid
The tablets safely down
Further then the journey made
Until they Jericho town

Since then both covenant and law
Are treated with respect
Yet only few have found The Door
Where no one would expect

God gave to drink gave food and care
Accompanied them as Guide
While most have wandered everywhere
But few are found inside
