Goin' Home

Rating: 5.0

Goin' home
This last night
Such long time
Without bread
Without broads
Without sex
Without name
Still...I'm sane
Still...I'm game
Life's insane

POET'S NOTES ABOUT THE POEM
Although this was an excruciatingly difficult time in Kerouac's life, he had received so much more spiritual insight. This further validated his very strong belief in the existence of God.

2 - It's a catchy-sounding 'write', but i also do not detect " death" in the poem; is goin' home a reference to it? The las word, insane, made me think of inane, ** .Life and people & poetry may all be silly, stupid, or both. ** inane adjective: " silly, stupid" bri ;)

1 - " Life's insane" Indeed some will think that at times. The Poet's Notes makes it sound to me as though poet Jack K. wrote the poem; i did not find he did; did he? The P. Notes does not explain. " Spiraling down a silo of despair and drunkenness in the wake of his On The Road/Dharma Bums celebrity as ‘king of the Beats’, Jack Kerouac longed for a safe haven." (cont.)
