Gon' Preacher Preach Poem by Corey Campbell (BlackChild)

Gon' Preacher Preach

While sitting in the congregation I realize,
must have been when the spirit hit me.
I notice all the souls that were closed inside,
of this known place that many come to see.

A human being who spread the word,
like a net casts to the ocean floor.
And while drawing in the net,
I realize, the souls of fish that he have pulled.

I must admit, that what was shown,
my eyes couldn't really believe.
For what I saw captured in the net,
were not only fish, but souls of many species.

I rubbed my eyes to focus in clear,
some of the souls resembled snakes?
'Ooh- my GOD'! I cried out loud,
but GOD said, there's no mistake!

*** Gon' Preacher Preach! ***

For the church it resembled the net,
It was GOD who revealed it to me.
And the fish resembled the souls,
There were many and many to see.

The church doors are opened wide,
to all who wanted to be fed.
Like the net, it drew inside,
the wicked souls and others that wanted bread.

The word of GOD sang,
from the human who preached his word.
All souls were being fed,
with the Word to all who heard.

GOD HE is the light,
and we all struggle to seek.
In order to gather HIS souls,
Well, gon' preacher then preach!
