Good Friend? ! ? Poem by Elena Sandu

Good Friend? ! ?

Elena S(*_*) ⋅ 23 April 2015

Once upon a time
In a deep forest
from this place, very far
lived three good friends:
An owl, a deer,
and a crow.
The owl was working
as a teacher.
The deer as a doctor
and the crow
never had a job,
saying 'not yet'.

One day they
visited a shop said
'Mountain Land'.
There, a great diamond
big as a chicken's egg
was on sale.

The crow frozen
in front of it
and said:
-How beautiful this thing
Oh please my friends,
let's have it!

-Why?
(the deer looked
quite puzzled)
This is no food.
The owl, said puzzled:
- Too expensive,
and no good
for any use.
And anyway
how would we pay?
You have no work and I,
after the summer holiday
all in my pockets left
are money for this month tree rent.
-Oh but we need it,
look how beautiful it shines!
Call me not a thief
but adventurous, see
let's try a new emotion,
that of steal.
The deer:
To steal is not
a healthy thing,
no way!
The owl: Why? !
The sun shines beautifully too
Would we want to steal that too?
This is no good, we have a conscience
and we were taught that steal is bad.
I'm getting sick...
Why would we do such thing?

The crow
-Because is fun. We can shut up
that conscience, put it at sleep
Let's think and see
the diamond as
nothing else but a simple egg.
To steal an egg when hungry
will not carry you to hell? !
Let's do it, try it only once!

The deer
-No! To steal is bad
my mother taught
that things that comes
into a house
without working hard
could bring in sickness
or bad luck.

The owl:
-And don't you know?
if today we steal an egg
tomorrow we will steal the hen.

The crow:
SO WHAT? Give! Me! A! Break!
Huh? A doctor, who is afraid
of sickness, a teacher
who cannot tell the difference
between an egg and hen
Are you my friends?
If not then leave before
you dare to say to me no again.

The owl
bitterly disappointed
at once the shop has left.
But the deer, sadly, looted
the diamond as
could not have the heart
to loose her friend.

But oh,
the police man wolf
disguised as lamb
was near, saw it all.
The crow away fast flew
and sigh, the dear deer,
cried in vain.
No one, not even
the owl, wise friend
could be of any help
The deer could not
escape the jail..

Now children
raise your hands and tell
was Mr Crow
a good friend?

Vaillancourt | Reply picture of sunprincess ♡ ♡ ♡ x..........very beautiful, my dear friend Elena :) ....and the very best friend in this story is the owl...cause he did the right thing and walked away...so no one can blame him.... cause deer is in the jail, or cause crow was bad and flew away, without paying for his mistake....I love this write...and feel it should be read to every child and grownup...lol...a most fabulous write, my friend...I truly enjoyed it...will be reading this one again, someday soon in the immediate future ★ 23 Apr 2015 by sunprincess ♡ ♡ ♡ | Reply    A fable with a moral that we should all take to heart, Elena. No, the crow is less than a good friend, and should be characterized as temptation. The deer succumbed, unfortunately, though the owl remained true to his values and morals. 23 Apr 2015 by Nígh†mµ†€    | Reply A poem with a moral written well and with deep meaning 23 Apr 2015 by Lynda Robson | Reply Awww really good gold ink....totally awesome...tfs darling xoxoxo xoxoxo xoxoxo blessings 23 Apr 2015 by Angel mia LOVE | Reply A brilliant piece of story telling Elena...thank you for this well written moral tale 23 Apr 2015 by.. magnolia | Reply picture of Joseph Anderson xA fabulous fable of faltering morality. A deep morality tale told with great simplicity, straight and to the point. A needed reminder for many-worthy, indeed of thinking on 23 Apr 2015 by Joseph Anderson | Reply picture of Erik 99 Totally delightful, Elena. This story could indeed be told to young children, who would understand easily, and accept it as a fairy tale, but with meaning to their own lives. I'm sure they would have a good discussion afterwards, and learn from it. 26 Apr 2015 by Erik 99 | Reply
