Good Guys Finish Last
Good guys finish last,
This will give you a mind blast.
and Why is it you ask?
Why do good guys finish last?
Is it because we ain't exciting?
Girls like guys who hit them,
and are frightning?
Is it because we want to give them
our all,
Instead of making them cry and bawl?
Is it because we don't cheat,
Or that we don't go after every hot piece of meat?
What's so bad about being good?
Good Guys Finish Last
I don't know why,
But if you could tell me
I would like a reply.

This is a good poem. It really poses an important question. Good guys seem to miss out on lots of pleasure. Bad guys miss out completely on peace of mind. It is just a matter of choice. Is true happiness related more to pleasure? Or more to peace of mind that comes with integrity? Many times, times of pleasure leave a bad taste in the aftermath. Never does a good deed leave a bad taste. I think all of us have experience with that. When I was searching in my mind for an answer to the question in the last stanza, I thought about the essay of RW. Emerson, titled, COMPENSATION. It is a wonderful read, I highly recommend to anyone. (it is freely available on the internet)
