Good Ol' Days Poem by Margaret Shaw

Good Ol' Days

Rating: 3.5

Down a road at a country church,
I could hear the preacher tellin' us 'bout the good ol' days,
Where the country choirs and good time revivals,
Meant everything to people in town,
Children playing in the parking lot and there is laughing all around,
What happened to the days that time went slow?

I loved those summer skies and hot Julys,
Where the crickets are chirping til the break of dawn,
It's the morning light and the quiet nights,
That make the memories all more fun,
Where the moonlight shines in those starry skies,
And everyone enjoying each other's time,
I want to go back,
To the good ol' days.

In the rolling land outside of town,
The young people could be found having a grand ol' time,
With their radio up and singing out,
Others clowning around and laughing about,
Springtime shows in face in every place and the flowers are dancing in the wind,
I want to walk down the road as time goes by slow.

I loved those summer skies and hot Julys,
Where the crickets are chirping til the break of dawn,
It's the morning light and the quiet nights,
That make the memories all more fun,
Where the moonlight shines in those starry skies,
And everyone enjoying each other's time,
I want to go back,
To the good ol' days.

Everything just seems to go by so fast,
No one is stopping,
No one is watching the world go 'round,
Every act is just a memory,
But I remember those days,
Let's bring back those days,
Yes, let's bring back those days…

I loved those summer skies and hot Julys,
Where the crickets are chirping til the break of dawn,
It's the morning light and the quiet nights,
That make the memories all more fun,
Where the moonlight shines in those starry skies,
And everyone enjoying each other's time,
I want to go back,
I want to be back,
I want to go back and see,
Yes, I want to go back and see,
The good ol' days.

Simpler times and warm memories, two things to keep preserved. Thanks for sharing
